Kays Scotland has been based in Mauchline, East Ayrshire, for over 150 years. The company manufactures and exports Ailsa Craig curling stones around the world, and they are the only stones used in competition by The World Curling Federation. Much of the workforce comes from the village itself, and the local people are keen and supportive. The East Ayrshire location is important to Kays Scotland as Mark Callan explains; ‘First, there is the obvious benefit of being close to Ailsa Craig. Second, an efficient transport infrastructure is vital for our business, making it straightforward to export globally’.
